The New Medikro Smart™ Spirometer from Medikro Ltd works with fully customizable Medikro Spirometry Software. Possibility to upgrade user interface with any features was granted to meet changing needs and expectations of end users.

According to research conducted in 2006 and 2007, spirometer users appreciate ease of use as one of the most desired feature for their devices. Research was carried out in several European countries: in Germany in 2006 and in France, Italy, Poland and Spain in 2007. Research was conducted in cooperation with research company MIK Korkala.

According to research, ease of use is understood by doctors, physicians, and nurses as possibility to focus during spirometric efforts, examinations on patient rather than on handling the device.

Easy to use and intuitive system has recently been developed by Medikro Ltd to answer doctors’ needs and preferences. Medikro’s spirometry allows purchase of a basic spirometer and developing it to advanced system without the need to change the device. Device itself is durable and requires minimal level of maintenance to ensure quality examinations and results.

According to Esko Luostarinen, Product Manager in Medikro Ltd, this system is also a perfect solution for doctors who want to specialize in spirometry as they can start with low cost device and extend range of possible examination as their clinical needs and specialization increases. “I believe that no need to change the device when demand for more advanced system arises, makes our solution user friendly and time saving, as no time to learn new system is required” Tuominen adds.

Official product launch is scheduled for ERS 2008 congress in Berlin where opportunity to test the system will be given to all interested. Start of sales is planned for the beginning of the next year.
